Lost question: How did Locke go from being Helen’s boyfriend to her customer?

They were two different women. Helen was his girlfriend, who left him. ‘Helen’ was a phone sex worker who he called Helen, although that wasn’t her real name.
ROO2 is right. Locke was pretty sad then, but he believes that everything he went through in his life has brought him to where he is and who he is today.
